Sport at MAGS

Mount Albert Grammar School is arguably the top sporting school in New Zealand with a long tradition of Auckland and National championship success across a wide range of codes, and students selected to represent the region and the country.

More important than medals, however, is the value we place on sport to help develop character and a lifelong interest in health and fitness among our students. All students are encouraged to participate in at least one sport each year, and consequently we offer more than 40 sports which can be played from social to premier level.

The participation of teachers and parents ensure that all teams and activities are well organised, supervised and successful.

ERO has commended the school on its sports programme. “Positive relationships between teachers and students, combined with teacher participation in the wider life of the school, support student engagement. The Headmaster and staff continue to promote high levels of academic, sporting and co-curricular achievement and success for students.”
