Our Year 10 and Year 9 Prizegivings today saw Juniors being recognised for their outstanding efforts throughout the year across the Four Pillars – Academia, Arts, Service and Sport.
Students were awarded certificates and prizes in Year 10 and Year 9 ceremonies in the the F.W. Gamble Hall, culminating in the special prizes.
Our Junior Duces for 2023 are Ella Burton and Rudy Keane, while the Best All-Round Year 10s are Soren Bell and Hannah Jack.
The Greg Cave and Elise Goddard Cup winners for Year 9 Academic Achievement are Ash Jansen and Amara Shah, while the Best All-Round Year 9s are Aidan Ranchhod and Tulsi Bayliss (pictured above).
The Junior Arts Duces are Penelope Tozer and Solomon Tomokino, and our Junior Victrix and Victor Ludorum are Ysabella Nimo and Akaldeep Singh.
The Paul Gardener Service Cup was awarded to Prisha Aravind and Isaiah Boutsady, while Neville Watson Awards for the Students Who Best Typify the Spirit of Mount Albert Grammar School were presented by Jan Watson to Solomon Tomokino (Year 10) and Olive Nelson Welch (Year 9).
The CC Lamb Award for demonstrating Personal Excellence was presented to Sia Unasa (Year 10) and Keasi Utumoengalu (Year 9).
The MCs for the Year 9 event were Peyson Mararoa and Abdul Baset Faisal, while Saffron Spiller and Buster Garner MC’ed the Year 10 ceremony.
Both gatherings enjoyed a performance of Wes Montgomery’s Angel by the Junior Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kingsley Melhuish.
In their last duties as Head Prefects, Khalen Quensell and Campbell Buchanan attended the prizegivings with Khalen addressing the Year 10s and Campbell the Year 9s. Both urged our Juniors to get involved, take on big challenges and make a difference.
