Shannon Hoole wins Visual Art Award

Top Visual Arts student Shannon Hoole has been awarded an ARA Lodge Visual Art Award valued at $1250.

Shannon, pictured with the trophy she won for Excellence in Painting at the MAGS Arts Awards last week, won first prize for students’ paintings at this year’s MAGS Fine Art Show, is sitting NCEA Scholarship Painting, and will study at the Elam School of Fine Arts at Auckland University from 2018. She has been a student of Art teacher Ms Ainsley Leonard this year.

ARA Lodge in Auckland city is New Zealand’s oldest masonic lodge, established in 1842. Each year it awards Visual Arts prizes to top students from Auckland secondary schools.

MAGS’ Acting Head of Visual Art, Mr Bryn Corkery, thanked the lodge for its recognition of Shannon’s talent. “We are very proud of her and pleased she is being acknowledged outside of school for her achievements,” said Mr Corkery.
