School Cross Country 2023

The school Cross Country took place on April 3 and 4.
The Girls went first on Monday, followed by the Boys on Tuesday.  Year 11 PE classes and senior students also ran on Tuesday
The course size varied depending on which age group students were in.  The course requires students to run around our lower fields, past School House, along Alberton Avenue, around the farm then back to finish on the lower fields.
The Year 9 Girls race was won by Olivia Appleton, finishing 18 seconds ahead of Hazel Helmore. Bianca Chan finished in 3rd place.  The Year 10 Girls race saw a mirror image of their placing as Year 9 students last year. Peggy Taylor finished first with Macy Hains and Isabel Spreitzer in 2nd and 3rd respectively.  This was a close race with only eight seconds separating the three placegetters.
The Year 9 Boys race was a competitive race with Matias Nunez Gutierrez finishing 1st, closely followed by Conrad Priest. Luca Darling finished third with not much distance between the three. The Year 10 Boys winner was Oliver Mayers, who managed to hold off last year’s Year 9 champion Myles Kelly in a tight finish.  William Wood finished third.
The Year 11 PE classes and Senior categories were combined this year.  The first girl home was Year 12 student Millee Loxton.  Ayano Yamada finished 2nd and Khalen Quensell finished 3rd.  In the boy’s section Year 11 student Theo Bray won a close contest with Oliver Sutton with only one second separating them.  Sam Carryer finished 3rd overall and was the best placed senior student.
Assistant Director of Sport Mr Crossan said, “Thanks to Mr Dempster for his organising of the event.  Thanks to all the staff who were involved in marshalling, sports coaching classes who assisted with marshalling and Prefects that helped with placings and results recording. Also it was pleasing to see a number of staff members who got involved and ran the course with the students.”
