Rowing: Albertian helps Yale to historic US win

2015 Albertian rower Jonathan Winter has helped his Yale university team to its first ever win of the US National Rowing Championships.

Jonathan (pictured above holding plaque) gained a place at Yale last year following his success with MAGS’ rowing programme and New Zealand selection for the World Junior Championships in 2015 and 2016.

He was in Yale’s Second VIII but was called into the second seat of the First VIII for the crucial race, which Yale won by less than a tenth of a second in 5:29.900 ahead of favourites Washington State. It was the first time in Yale’s 165 year history of rowing competition that the east coast university has claimed the national title.

Jonathan is studying for a degree in Economics.
