The very best of Senior Arts performances was on display on Tuesday night at the Arts Alive concert.
Director Arts Co-Curricular Jacqui Cesan said, “The evening  began with a fantastic performance by the award winning Jazz band, setting a high benchmark for items following them.  However, the standard was maintained throughout the night.”
The Music Department again showed its diversity with gypsy Jazz, the entertaining funk rock group The Wondercats and stellar classical items from The Moonstars chamber group and Nadine Hidalgo and Hannah Houghton on piano and violin.
Drama presented two polished and entertaining excerpts: from the Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival submission and the popular Year 13 play The Visit, and a devised solo by Maddi Bencich, who channeled controversial choreographer Martha Graham.
“Dance items ranged from Hip Hop to contemporary and all were amazing,” said Ms Cesan. “But mention must be made of the Year 13 Leavers Dance choreographed by Ms Samantha French with the students. Their joy of performance and the personality they all brought to this made it a crowd favourite.”
The show concluded with the much-anticipated and hugely entertaining Prefects Dance – and then 38 senior students were awarded the highly coveted Arts Lion for their excellence in the Arts.
