MAGS’ rowing squad has stepped up its success rate as the season progresses, with 15 A finals and two B finals at the Christmas Regatta held at Lake Karapiro from December 15-17.
Single sculler Holly Chaafe (above) once again won the Under 16 Girls Single, came 2nd in the Under 17 Single and claimed 2nd in the Women’s Club event, racing against adult rowers.
Our Intermediate Women’s Eight came 2nd, and Boys Under 15 Quad came 3rd. All six of our Eights made A Finals.
Lead Coach Callum Ross was pleased that the finals were spread among Novice and Senior rowers, boys and girls. “Our next step is the Cambridge Town Cup back at Lake Karapiro in late January, where we’ll be aiming for even more A Finals and higher placings.”
