Choir Wins Gold at Big Sing Finale

The Mount Albert Grammar School Centennial Choir spent much of the last week of August in Christchurch competing at the New Zealand Choral Federation’s prestigious Big Sing Finale.
Made up of 37 boys from Years 10-13, the choir was selected as one of just 24 of the country’s finest secondary school choirs to take part – an outstanding achievement in itself.
The choir delivered a fantastic series of performances and was awarded Gold at the awards ceremony, placing them among only eight choirs at the Finale to receive this honour.
Music Teacher Ms Henderson said, “Beyond the competition, the week was an unforgettable experience filled with music, friendship, and plenty of singing. The boys had the opportunity to connect with talented young musicians from around New Zealand and returned home with wonderful memories and friendships that will last for years to come.
“A special thank you must go to Choir Director Terence Maskell, whose dedication, expertise, and high expectations continue to inspire the boys to achieve their very best.”
