Chemistry student in top 100

Year 12 student Max Brooke-Cowden has gained entry to a training programme in the hope of being selected to represent New Zealand at the Chemistry Olympiad in Slovakia in July 2018.

The training camp is open to the top 100 Chemistry students from throughout New Zealand. Max was selected after sitting a two-hour national exam this month, gaining a Silver Certificate for coming in the top 20%.

After his additional training, Max will take another exam in March. From this 30 students will be selected for a week-long live-in training camp in the April holidays. Finally, four students will form a national team to compete at the International Chemistry Olympiad, at which students from 75 countries are represented.
