The annual MAGS Academic Council Quiz Night was held in the F.W. Gamble Hall on August 7.
It was a night filled with mind-boggling questions ranging across all manner of subjects.
Funds raised from the night – yet to be confirmed – will go towards the Mental Health Foundation NZ, which works to promote positive mental health and wellbeing through education, public campaigns, and systemic advocacy.
A range of prizes were awarded, with Table 15, dressed as characters from Shrek, winning Best Dressed Table and the Mad-Hatter from Table 12 winning Best Dressed Individual. The English Department’s teachers’ team took out first place, reclaiming their title after coming second last year.
Prizes were provided via sponsorship from a range of local businesses, such as Aboutcare, Vector Zero Whitewater Park, CityFitness, Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries, 2Degrees, LookSharp, Noel Leeming, Krispy Kreme, Bed Bath & Beyond, Te Whatu (Stardome Observatory and Planetarium), Mount Albert Aquatic Centre, Event Cinemas, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse, Muzza’s Pies, and Fiji Airways.
We would like to thank them all for their contributions — the night would not have been possible without their generosity and support for this important cause. A special thank-you must go to Fiji Airways, who provided two return tickets to Fiji, won by Maki Sukant in the Heads-and-Tails bonus round.
One of the Academic council leaders, Vanishka Das, said, “Congratulations to the winners again! The night was filled with the brightness of laughter and fun costumes, and continues to be an important night of service while bringing the MAGS community together, from the over 40 tables participating to the volunteers from the Academic Council who made this happen, as well as the Academic Prefects.”
