Premier League vs Westlake Boys' High School

MAGS Downed at Westlake

Mount Albert Grammar School experimented with their line-up in the last away fixture at Westlake Boys', bringing in Anthony Samuela at centre back to play alongside 15-year-old Cameron Sinclair and 15 year old Cameron Hogg started in goal, instead of regular custodian Patrick George.

It was a futuristic defence, if not team, that could serve MAGS in season 2012.

Despite the young team, MAGS acquitted themselves well and lost to a late 80th-minute Stanley Onacha goal.

Westlake exploited some poor defending as Warren Pinto got in behind MAGS and squared the ball into the MAGS penalty area. We failed to clear and from 12 yards out Onacha fired powerfully high into the MAGS goal.

The win put Westlake clear of any play-off and guaranteed the North Shore team a place in the Premier League for season 2012.
After the game MAGS coach Kevin Fallon was happy with the performance of many of his young players, adding, "It was a good rehearsal for the National Tournament."
