There was a very big turnout from Auckland's rowing schools and spectators at the Head of the Harbour regatta on Lake Pupuke. It was great to see MAGS featuring in the places at the Head of the Harbour after an absence of 26 years. We had a great result and took 3rd in the U15 Boys eight (2nd div.)

Bruce Culpan and Kerry Ashby, who both won Head of the
Harbour titles for MAGS in the 1940's and went on to win Red
Coats
(National Titles) as West End Rowing Club Senior Rowers, as
did several other MAGS rowers including Bret Beavis and Dan
Ashby.
As the day went on the
conditions became quite difficult for rowing with a strong tail
wind and very choppy water.
