INTO THE SEMI-FINALS.
"Pavic scores his first goal."
It took only three minutes for Milosh Nikolic to put Mount Albert Grammar School ahead of Massey High School in the Auckland Knockout Cup played this afternoon at Alberton Avenue.
His left foot tap in came after first hitting the foot of the post, to be followed by winger Sammy Ho hitting the other post and finally Nikolic tapped home the Mark Wither's cross.
later, Nikolic returned the compliment and supplied fellow
striker Mark Withers with a tap in.
MAGS were dominating their West Auckland opponents and on a rain soaked pitch, were producing some eye-catching football particularly down the left flank with the combinations of Skye Parmenter and elusive winger Pomare Te Anau.
In the 27th minute, a harmless deep free kick from Ryan Elder to Skye Parmenter was headed in superbly at the far post by Ash Solly.
Half time score: MAGS 3 - Massey 0.
opened the second half looking to get on the score board.
Their left winger got in behind MAGS right back and shot over
the crossbar from what was a good goal scoring opportunity.
Instead, in the 45th minute, Mark Withers cut across the
front of the penalty area and his shot spilled under the
Massey goalkeeper's prostrate form.
MAGS 4 - Massey 0.
In the 62nd minute Zane Sole replaced young Matt Killip who had been having another sound game and Justin Eiman replaced Ryan Elder.
Sole was involved in a brilliant free kick with Parmenter and Nikolic that the goalkeeper managed to block. Two more one-on-one chances went begging for MAGS from Sammy Ho and Milosh Nikolic.
Then, with one minute to go, 14yr old Karlo Pavic scored his first 1st XI goal, converting a Justin Eiman right-wing cross high into the net.
looked all over, a Massey left-wing attack was not cleared:
with Darryn Ah Kuoi slipping the ball which ran across the
edge of the penalty area and a Massey forward scooping his
shot over a static Macrae Sloper in the MAGS goal to the
jubilation of the Massey team.
