Vs MacLeans College: June 20, 2007.

"Two outstanding goals for Withers"

On a cold bleak windswept day Mount Albert Grammar school got back to winning ways at Bucklands beach today beating a feisty MacLeans College First Eleven 3 - 0.

The victory was not sealed until 13 minutes from full time when talented winger Pomare Te Anau ran onto a Mark Withers pass outstripping his marker, drawing the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the side netting.
That goal came at a time when MacLeans were desperately trying to pierce the strong organised MAGS back four of Skye Parmenter, Ryan Elder, Tihou Weepu and acting skipper Darryn Ah Kuoi.
Te Anau's goal knocked the stuffing out of the home team. To make matters worse Te Anau supplied the cross for striker Mark Withers to bury the third goal on 89 minutes. It was Withers second of the day.

Two wonderful goals one a delicate turn and chip that completely deceived the MacLeans goalkeeper in the 6th minute.
The other a well timed near post run to meet Te Anau's cross.
MAGS were worthy winners and now go to three points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Coach Kevin Fallon was delighted with the win on a day that tested the moral fibre and technical ability of all the twenty two players.
" MacLeans is not my favourite ground. We came here with injuries, got three points and a clean sheet thrown in. Very happy, yes."
