Trailing 2 - 0 at half time Mount Albert Grammar School were well beaten 5 goals to nil by a Central United team that were themselves not that impressive.
MAGS started the game confidently and had the better of the exchange in the opening half hour. It was Central though who opened the scoring through David Richmond in the 35th minute. Four minutes later Sam Mathews fired home from the edge of the box giving the Northern Premier League team a 2 - 0 advantage going into the break.
MAGS substituted Kojo Wusa at half time and brought into the game sixteen year old Jade Mesias. It was Mesias who immediately got into the action winning his share of the midfield possession.
It was Jaason Hayne who scored for Central in the 47th minute getting in behind the MAGS central defenders, Ash Solly and Tihou Weepu.
Trying to get MAGS back in the game, Coach Kevin Fallon brought on Troy Smith for Zane Sole. Unfortunately for MAGS the central defender for United, Sam Campbell and Kara Waeford proved to be too strong. As an attacking force MAGS were reduced to sporadic raids by their wingers Malcolm MacRae and Pomare Te Anau.
Mathews added his second goal from a left cross in the 66th minute of the game and the final nail in the coffin came on full time when Quadah Raguet robbed skipper Ash Solly to square the ball for Jason Hayne to score the easiest of tap ins in the 92 minute.
MAGS coach Kevin Fallon said; "It was a disappointing result and for most of the team a disappointing personal performance. Now we have to concentrate on our next fixture on Wednesday at MacLeans College.
