Orienteering - 2011

The MAGS senior boys team of Matthew Battley and Kieran Woods visited all 28 controls in 54:54, scoring maximum points. The were beaten by only 2 minutes by a KINGS team to place second overall

This year's event was held in Woodhill Forest, Waimauku with record numbers taking part. Eight MAGS students competed on a day where the weather deteriorated badly resulting in very gloomy & wet conditions.

This year's North Island Secondary School Orienteering Championships were held on farmland in Taupo. Six MAGS students attended the event which was the largest group we have had at a Championship orienteering event outside of Auckland.

This year, eight teams represented MAGS at the Auckland Secondary Schools Orienteering Relay Championships held at Ambury Regional Park, Mangere.

With the increased popularity of orienteering, this year's Sprint Series was split into four zones. Each zone held six weekly events with two champion of champions events being held at the end of Term 1 for qualifying students.
