NCEA and
Scholarship Results
The 2009 NCEA results are the best ever achieved by the school
since the inception of NCEA in 2002.
The Herald
reported this outstanding achievement, but
did not quite get its figures correct. The improvement from
2005 at level 1 has in fact been 31%. An 84% pass rate is an
outstanding achievement that makes us easily the best decile 7
state school in Auckland. In fact, this result is better than
the decile 9 average and places us as the third best state
school in Auckland for NCEA level 1 results.
The Herald did not report the 18% improvement since 2005 at level 2 to 81.2%. This result is better than any other decile 7 state school and the 8% improvement at level 3 since 2005 to 75.2%. Scholarships have risen by 31 to the current 48.
Overall, Mount Albert Grammar School has cemented itself as a top-performing academic school. These results are often hard to achieve in a big school of 2400 and they are clearly outstanding for its decile (7).
Even though
the school is producing outstanding sports results, including
eight Auckland titles last year and is considered the
foremost sporting school in the country, and our arts
programme continues to be amongst the best the Auckland, the
academic performance remains the number one priority.
