MAGS girls' football has started strongly this year.

There are five teams again and all of a high standard.The Girls' First XI are thus far unbeaten and have won the Premier Girls Auckland Division Championship.

The next trophy to win is the Auckland Provincial Knockout championship. After being ranked number 1 seed in the draw, MAGS has direct entry into the quarter final vs Westlake Girls' High School.


This year also brings an usual situation for the national Premier tournament with the NZ U17 World Cup being run at the same time. So, sadly,  MAGS will not have the services of captain Rachel Head, Sivitha Boyce, Rebecca Burrows and Jess Reddaway. We wish them all well and they will make Mount Albert Grammar proud as they represent New Zealand.

The Nationals for 2010 will be held in Nelson. MAGS is hoping for a top 3 place despite missing four starting line up players. It will be a good rebuilding year for MAGS and will allow new faces to gain experience at the highest level.

The Junior A girls finished a respectful second during the season and are also through to the quarter finals in their Auckland Provincial championship.

The Girls' First XI Football team defeated Avondale College in the Auckland Provincial Championship Final on Wednesday in a very close game. Congratulations to the team. Boys' coach Kevin Fallon was especially full of praise for the quality of the winning goal!
