New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships: Tournament Week August 30, 2007

Authman Al-Saudi competed in the NZSS table tennis champs held in Christchurch on the 30th of August

Authman breezed through his group matches not dropping a set in all 4 matches.
The round of 32 and round of 16 proved to be a bit more challenging for Authman but he was successfull in the end

Unfortunately Authman lost in the Quarter finals to Christchurch Boy's Kevin Wang.
The game was an intense match with great displays of speed, footwork and vision from both players.
Authman was 2-0 down in sets but fought his way back up to make it 2-2. At this stage the game looked to be going Authmans way in the 5th set.
The initial lead of 8-5 was stopped when Kevin Wang lifted his game very rapidly and won the set 11-9, thus claiming the semi final spot

This meant that Authman's final placing was 7th out of 55.

Authman would like to thank the School and especially Mr Burden And Mr Baker for a well organised trip down to Christchurch.
