Vs Mangere College: June 10, 2009.

FINALS FOOTY.

The end of the round robin saw the boys grind out a victory over Mangere College. Both teams had a lot to play for, Mangere wanting to end their season on a high, and for us, the opportunity to prepare for finals and secure 2nd spot. This would also guarantee a home Quarter Final.

The boys started slowly, and were restricted to defence due again to lack of respect for the ball. Unforced errors and ill discipline also cost the team. However as the game went on the team were able to get some ?go forward? and their structure was much better.

Missing several key players due to injury and sickness the team were somewhat lacking in experience. But each individual realised the importance of the match. Points were hard to come by in the first half. Stephen Papa opened our account with a try in the 20th minute half.

Second half was much better and the boys finally realised their potential and came away with the victory 20 - 6. Mention must be made of an outstanding debut for Lanu Maiava, scoring a try, outstanding in both defence and offence.

The team has earnt a Home Quarter final against James Cook High School on Wednesday at 4PM hopefully to be played here at school on the number 1 field. We are calling on all Albertians to get along and show your support as Rugby League makes a comeback to prominence.
